Mrs Danae Bezantakou, founder of YES Forum & CEO of NAVIGATOR SHIPPING CONSULTANTS, underlined that YES Forum is the platform of open dialogue in the Greek Shipping and Sea Tourism Industry between principals, executives and university students, recent graduates and young executives. This unique initiative aims to create the next generation of shipping by passing shipping knowledge, experience and culture. Beyond the generation gap, bridges have to be achieved through Open Days & Daily Internships that are held in shipping companies as well as through the open dialogue which is carried out in Posidonia since 2016.

YES to Shipping Forum – A new success for its second edition

YES to Shipping Forum, took place with great success last day of the international maritime exhibition “Posidonia 2018”, on Friday, June 8, 2018

The background to this year’s Roundtable was dramatic. The recent G7 summit had ended in disarray, a new government of populists had taken over in Italy and disturbed the markets, Donald Trump also upset markets by imposing tariffs on $50bn-worth of imports from China, and in Greece, meanwhile, a vital vote in parliament on measures required to end the third bail-out programme coincided with a no-confidence motion in the government following the agreement between the Greek and FYROM prime ministers on the naming of “North Macedonia”.

UGS: Posidonia 2018 found our shipping industry maintaining its leading position globally

The President of the Union of Greek Shipowners, Mr. Theodoros Veniamis, during the customary press conference of the Greek and foreign journalists in the context of the 2018 Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition, pointed out in his introductory speech the following

The evolution of shipping from the first to the third industrial revolutions, and from using wind, steam and compasses to oil and satellites, required generations of development, yet it seems that the shipping world today is faced with a revolution which is unfolding with a breakneck speed due to the accelerating advent of new technologies such as the Internet of Things and robotics.

Shipping lags behind in new tech adoption, but change is inevitable Posidonia 2018 experts agree
