After having thanked the President of the Republic and the AEJ with a touching statement, the Portuguese journalist dedicated her prize to the Maltese journalist, Dafni Carouana Galizia, who was recently murdered in Malta under tragic conditions.

In a brilliant ceremony that took place at Aigli Zappeion for the “Constantinos Kalligas" awards, which were awarded by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos and organized for the twentieth consecutive year by the Greek section of the Association of European Journalists, the journalist and President of the Association of European Parliamentarian Journalists, Maria Fernanda Gabriel, was also received the Journalism award.

After having thanked the President of the Republic and the AEJ with a touching statement, the Portuguese journalist dedicated her prize to the Maltese journalist, Dafni Carouana Galizia, who was recently murdered in Malta under tragic conditions.

“It is a minimum tribute’’, said Maria Fernanda Gabriel, stressing that "violence will not discourage journalists from seeking and reporting corruption’’.

For his part, the Honorary International President of the AEJ, Athanasios C. Papandropoulos, commented that "violence against journalists does nothing more but encourage all those who are fighting for better societies of democracy and justice’’.
